Mythmere Games’ Swords & Wizardry Brings Classic RPG Action to Kickstarter
Mythmere Games’ latest Kickstarter project, Swords & Wizardry Complete Revised Rulebook, has already raised over $67,000 from a modest goal of $1,000 with 26 days left to go. The campaign is set to end on April 25, 2023.
Swords & Wizardry is a tabletop roleplaying game that uses the rules of Original Dungeons & Dragons circa 1978. The game is known for its light, easy-to-learn rules and focus on epic adventures with friends. It is the ENNIE award-winning retro-clone of the original 1974-1978 rules for Dungeons & Dragons.
The new revised rulebook includes everything players need to get started with the game, from character generation and monsters to magic items and encounter tables. It also features a simplified treasure table, modernized language, and adjustments to bring the rules closer to the original D&D rules.
One of the game’s unique features is its “rules-light” approach, making it fast and easy to learn the basics and start playing. Swords & Wizardry contains a full set of nine character classes, and hundreds of adventures have been written for use with the system by multiple publishers, all of which are still compatible with this version of the game.
The new printing of the game also features some great new art by Del Teigeler, Matsya Das, and Brett Barkley. The cover art varies between the traditional printing and the print-on-demand versions, with the Erol Otus art for the worldwide print-on-demand version.
In addition to the revised rulebook, Mythmere Games is also offering an introductory-level adventure for Swords & Wizardry, Legacy of Blackscale Lagoon, written by award-winning author James Spahn. The adventure takes place in the swamps of Blackscale Lagoon and is estimated at 32 pages with a saddle-stitched softcover binding.
Overall, the new revised rulebook and accompanying adventure are sure to be a hit with fans of Swords & Wizardry and those looking to experience the classic rules of Original Dungeons & Dragons.
