Lewis, Clark, and Monsters: ‘Corps of Discovery’ Blasts Past Kickstarter Goals
“Corps of Discovery,” a new board game combining historical exploration with monster combat, has successfully launched on Kickstarter. The game, designed by Sen-Foong Lim and Jay Cormier, who have previously worked on projects like MIND MGMT, Belfort, and Junk Art, has quickly surpassed its funding goal.
Since the start of the campaign, “Corps of Discovery” has raised over $120,285, far exceeding its initial goal of $36,594. The campaign still has 19 days remaining and will conclude on May 14th. The game has already attracted 1,155 backers.
This cooperative game, suitable for 1 to 4 players, involves navigating the challenges of the American wilderness. Players not only explore the land but also encounter and combat invasive monsters. The game board is designed to accommodate various maps, ensuring a range of scenarios and replayability.
Players are tasked with gathering resources necessary to meet daily challenges and progress through the game’s objectives. Logical reasoning and deduction are key as players decide where to find needed resources. The game encourages collaboration with characters such as Sacajawea and alliances with the indigenous people to enhance the gameplay experience.
“Corps of Discovery” offers two chapters: Fauna and Flora. Each chapter introduces unique mechanisms, goals, and new game components, providing a diverse experience with each playthrough.
