Catalyst Games’ new box set, BattleTech: Mercenaries, is nearing the end of its Kickstarter campaign with over $6.1M raised from over 20K backers, far surpassing its initial $50,000 goal. The campaign saw a surge of support in the first day, raising over $3.6M, and it is now nearing the end of its run with just 66 hours left until the campaign closes on April 21.
BattleTech: Mercenaries promises to expand the gameplay of the BattleTech universe with over 50 high-quality miniatures, amazing gameplay, and new fiction. Players become MechWarriors, mastering a multi-ton, towering avatar of destruction that is the culmination of over 3000 years of battlefield technology development.
BattleTech: Mercenaries introduces over 50 reimagined designs, including Mechs, armored and support vehicles, a VTOL, additional battle armor, and a new aerospace fighter. All of these are crafted and manufactured to the same high-quality standards as the original BattleTech miniatures, ensuring that players will have a visually stunning and engaging experience.

I love how BattleTech is this way distant future, but aside from FTL, the giant mecha (which arguably aren’t effective IRL), and orbital bombardment; uses technology that already exists or is probably less than 100 years for us to achieve in the real world.
