Fans of both Zombicide and Monty Python are in for a treat as the iconic sketches from the British TV show are given a zombie apocalypse makeover. The expansion pack introduces the concept of Survivors, new equipment, and even a novel mission.

In true Monty Python fashion, the expansion set comes with a range of hilariously unusual foes such as silly walkers, vicious grannies, and fish-slapping dancers. CMON is pulling no punches in providing a gaming experience brimming with the iconic British comedy’s nonsensical humor.

Each pre-order comes with an exclusive pack containing the Gumbys, a character played by each member of the Python troupe. This expansion contains a diverse assortment of elements including 21 miniatures, 8 tokens, and 47 cards. The miniatures are divided among 6 survivors, 7 “zombies,” and 8 abominations, adding layers of complexity to the gameplay.

However, it’s the unique equipment cards that will surely have players chuckling at the table. The expansion introduces players to surreal weapons like a halibut for pushing enemies away, a raw chicken to strike the unworthy, a mallet to chase musical mice, and even a 16-ton weight to drop on unsuspecting foes. Plus, the infamous “Funniest Joke in the World” card promises to have enemies falling in stitches—quite literally.

In addition to these amusing additions, the expansion also includes SPAM cards that infiltrate every deck in the game. So, prepare for an uncanny gameplay where SPAM will be as ubiquitous as the undead.

For the collectors out there, this expansion pack might tickle your fancy. Pre-orders include the exclusive Gumby pack, showcasing the whole Python troupe as the titular characters. These Gumbys can be used as an Abomination, a Companion, or even a Survivor, adding an element of flexibility and fun to the proceedings.

Set for delivery in April 2024, CMON warns that this character pack expansion requires the Zombicide 2nd Edition core box to play. So, whether you’re a seasoned Zombicide player or a newcomer enticed by the Monty Python madness, there’s plenty of time to get your hands on the core box before the silly walkers invade your game nights.

But that’s not all. In a surprise announcement, the creators have also revealed an Optional Buy expansion for the game called TMNT Zombicide: Timecrash. This expansion brings the beloved Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to Wintergrad, the fantasy world of Zombicide: White Death.

In Timecrash, the world of New York has collided with the world of Zombicide Fantasy through a mysterious portal. Shredder, the infamous villain of the TMNT universe, is taking full advantage of the necromantic magic in Wintergrad to raise an army of zombies and invade New York. It’s up to the Turtles to stop him and prevent him from amassing too much power.

Zombicide: White Death takes players to the cold and icy lands of Wintergrad, a far cry from the sunny western towns seen in the previous games. The new setting brings with it a host of new challenges, including ramparts and battlement walkways, as well as a snow-covered urban area.

In addition to the new environment, Zombicide: White Death introduces new intelligent humanoid-animal-hybrid species, including the mystical canine people called Kenshan and the cat people known as Khanra. These new characters bring with them exciting new abilities and mechanics that add a fresh layer of depth to the game.

One of the most exciting new features of Zombicide: White Death is the Freeze mechanic. This allows survivors to temporarily immobilize zombies, giving them a chance to escape or take them out more easily. Wintergrad, the game’s setting, is a besieged city surrounded by walls that the zombies cannot cross. However, the Khan Abomination, a new character in the game, can climb the ramparts freely, making it a formidable foe for the players. The Defiler Necromancer, another new character, is equally challenging as it creates Corruption tokens that neutralize a Zone’s special abilities, including Ramparts. The Defiler Nercomancer’s evil influence grows towards the Beacon’s Zone, and if the Corruption reaches the Beacon, the game is lost.

To fight against these new threats, the players have the help of Guards, special non-player characters that represent Wintergrad’s resistance force. The Guards can be commanded by the players to control key crossroads, gather in a single battle unit, or even pour Cauldrons to repel zombies. The Guards add a new layer of strategy and tactics to the game, making it even more exciting and challenging.

The game’s new characters and specific mechanics required the creation of the Abomination and Necromancer decks, which allow for greater flexibility in tailoring the game without hindering the main Zombie deck. These new gameplay mechanics add depth and complexity to the game, ensuring that each playthrough is different and challenging.

Nicolas Raoult, one of the game’s designers, explained that while the team wanted to stay true to what players love about the Zombicide Fantasy universe, they also wanted to introduce new characters, mechanics, and parts of the world. Enter White Death, a game that takes players far from the sunny towns of previous games and into the cold, besieged city of Wintergrad.

In this new land, players will encounter intelligent humanoid-animal-hybrid species like Lorna, from the mystical canine people called Kenshan, and Ogon, one of the Khanra, the cat people. These new characters do not come with any special rules but add a cool new dimension to the game.

Survivors in Zombicide: White Death cannot flee the city as it is surrounded by zombies. Instead, they must resist, creating a different take on the Zombicide theme. The snow-covered urban area has medieval ramparts that divide the board into several areas with corresponding special rules. The huge walls prevent free passage for both survivors and zombies, but players can climb the ramparts using stairs or rope ladders.

Zombies, being mindless, cannot use rope ladders and must use stairs to climb to the top of the ramparts. Occasionally, a special “Zombie Siege!” card will allow zombies to cross the ramparts in a fit of rage. However, zombies on Battlement Walkways can harmlessly fall, allowing players to escape.

Survivors also have new tricks up their sleeves, including the ability to find cauldrons to place on Battlement Walkways and throw hot tar at zombies below, eliminating them all. Being in a winter-themed environment comes with perks as well, with the new Freeze mechanic allowing survivors to temporarily immobilize zombies.

Whenever there’s a new edition of a game, players always ask, “will I still be able to use my old stuff?” If you’re a current Zombicide player, have no fear. CMON is releasing an Upgrade Kit during the Zombicide: 2nd Edition Kickstarter so players can update their current games to the new edition. Let’s delve into what’s in it.

This kit will contain ID cards for all the Survivors from the first three Seasons of Zombicide: core boxes, expansions, Special Guests, Game Night Kits, and Kickstarter Exclusives. These cards are sized to fit into the new plastic dashboards that come in the 2nd Edition core box and feature an updated skill list for the Survivors. Old players can get the new, upgraded cards, while new players can get the stats for Survivors from the different sets they might have missed.

We’re taking you to revisit past Kickstarters, Rising Sun, Zombicide: Green Horde, and HATE looking to fund brand new Soundtracks for them, as well as Digital Artbooks: The Kickstarter Exclusives from Rising Sun and HATE, and a brand new one for Zombicide: Green Horde and Black Plague.

With this also comes a new chance to pledge for those campaigns, acquiring these games along with many of their exclusives, as well access to a Time Vault (in the Pledge Manager) where many other leftover Exclusives from past campaigns (Arcadia Quest, The World of SMOG: Rise of Moloch, Zombicide: Black Plague, and Blood Rage, to name just a few) will be available.
