This collaboration builds on the success of their previous joint venture, Firefly The Game: 10th Anniversary Collector’s Edition, which garnered over $3.5 million from enthusiastic backers.

  • Dune: Kwisatz Haderach (Early 2025): A game that immerses players in the politics and intrigue of the Dune universe, accompanied by all three expansions.

Kickstarter Launches “D-Day Dice: To DO or DIE” – A Comprehensive Book on the Celebrated Dice Game https://www.tabletopgamingnews.com/kickstarter-launches-d-day-dice-to-do-or-die-a-comprehensive-book-on-the-celebrated-dice-game/ https://www.tabletopgamingnews.com/kickstarter-launches-d-day-dice-to-do-or-die-a-comprehensive-book-on-the-celebrated-dice-game/#respond Thu, 18 Jan 2024 22:23:44 +0000 https://www.tabletopgamingnews.com/?p=14696 A new Kickstarter campaign has been launched for “D-Day Dice: To DO or DIE,” a comprehensive book delving into the history, rules, and background of Emmanuel Aquin’s multi-award-winning solo/co-op dice game, D-Day Dice. The campaign, which aims to raise $6,341, has already surpassed its goal with $42,102 pledged by 436 backers and still has 21 days remaining.

“D-Day Dice” first emerged in 2009 as a print and play game on BoardGameGeek (BGG) by Emmanuel Aquin. It quickly evolved into a fully-fledged game, with its first edition launched on Kickstarter in 2011. This initial version set a record as the most successful board game on the platform at the time, crossing the $100,000 mark. The game’s second edition, released seven years later by Word Forge Games, saw even greater success, with over 20,000 copies sold globally, including expansions.

“D-Day Dice: To DO or DIE” is not just a book but a celebration of the game’s 15-year journey, encompassing both its challenges and triumphs. The book aims to consolidate every rule, optional rule, and scenario ever published for D-Day Dice, along with additional content, into one volume. It also serves as an update for players who own the first edition, allowing them to align with the current rules while using their original components.

The Kickstarter also offers a range of related products, including the “D-Day Dice: Arena Normandy Spiralbound Map Book,” various mini-expansions like “D-Day Dice: Funnies,” “Codebreakers,” and “Press Corps,” and items from previous D-Day Dice Kickstarters as add-ons.

“D-Day Dice: Arena Normandy” is a 64-page softback spiral-bound book featuring all 30 Battle Maps from the second edition, printed on high-quality paper. The “Funnies” expansion introduces Legendary Units inspired by early 20th-century comic strips, while “Codebreakers” and “Press Corps” pay tribute to the codebreakers and journalists of World War II, respectively. Another mini-expansion, “Landships,” is inspired by the solo play game “Pocket Landship” and challenges players’ dice management skills.

Skybound Entertainment and Mantic Games Rekindle Their Partnership: Fresh Board Games in ‘The Walking Dead’ and ‘Invincible’ Universes Coming Soon https://www.tabletopgamingnews.com/skybound-entertainment-and-mantic-games-rekindle-their-partnership-fresh-board-games-in-the-walking-dead-and-invincible-universes-coming-soon/ https://www.tabletopgamingnews.com/skybound-entertainment-and-mantic-games-rekindle-their-partnership-fresh-board-games-in-the-walking-dead-and-invincible-universes-coming-soon/#respond Wed, 28 Jun 2023 23:30:00 +0000 https://www.tabletopgamingnews.com/?p=12656 Today, in an announcement, Mantic Games revealed that it has renewed its successful partnership with Skybound Entertainment. The two entertainment giants had previously collaborated for five years, bringing Robert Kirkman’s renowned comic series “The Walking Dead” to the tabletop with the games “The Walking Dead: All Out War” and “The Walking Dead: Here’s Negan”.

This fresh collaboration promises new games, and this time they are taking a plunge into the world of ‘Invincible’ – the hit series from Robert Kirkman, Cory Walker and Ryan Ottley. The show has garnered massive popularity since its debut on Amazon Prime, with a second season already on the way.

The partnership also brings a delightful surprise for dice game enthusiasts. Following the success of “Hellboy: The Dice Game”, which was recently reviewed as ‘extremely satisfying’, ‘fabulous’ and ‘practically mandatory’ for Hellboy fans by Tabletop Gaming Magazine (April 2023), Mantic Games is all set to bring this fan-loved, card-and-dice gameplay to other universes.

In “The Walking Dead” game, players take on the roles of hopeful recruits for Rick Grimes’s group of survivors. Players must undertake a live supply run in a zone overrun by Walkers and other survivor groups, and the goal is to recover the most resources.

“Invincible: The Dice Game” transports players into the world of the Guardians of the Globe, where they must prove their worth by battling villains and outperforming other heroes. The player who earns the most reputation – without losing the respect of their peers – gets to join the Guardians.

For die-hard fans looking forward to these games, special pre-launch editions, inclusive of bonus cards, will be available ahead of the general retail release at San Diego Comic-Con (July 20 – 23, 2023) and at Gen Con (August 3 – 6, 2023). Moreover, both games will also be available for purchase online from July 20th. Given the excitement around these releases, stocks are expected to sell out fast.

While the focus is currently on these new games, Mantic Games assures fans of “The Walking Dead: All Out War” that they have plenty of fantastic ideas for future developments. The company invites community suggestions on Facebook about what fans would like to see in the future.

Stay tuned for next week’s blog post, where Mantic Games promises to dive deeper into the gameplay of these new offerings, providing players with valuable tips and strategies.

Unleashing Creativity with Celtic Animal Knot Dice, Now Live on Kickstarter https://www.tabletopgamingnews.com/unleashing-creativity-with-celtic-animal-knot-dice-now-live-on-kickstarter/ https://www.tabletopgamingnews.com/unleashing-creativity-with-celtic-animal-knot-dice-now-live-on-kickstarter/#respond Fri, 16 Jun 2023 20:00:00 +0000 https://www.tabletopgamingnews.com/?p=12200 The Celtic Animal Knot Dice Kickstarter campaign is gaining remarkable momentum. The campaign, which aims to produce beautiful dice that connect in a Celtic knot pattern, has already garnered an impressive $38,693 in pledges, overwhelmingly surpassing its initial $5,000 goal. As it stands, 542 backers have pledged their support with 13 days still to go before the campaign ends on June 30th.

At the heart of this project are three new designs of the eye-catching Knot Dice, featuring intricate animal motifs in multiple colors. Apart from adding a touch of Celtic charm to any gaming scenario, these dice allow players to create stunning Celtic knots while engaging in various games and puzzles. Whether used as a meditation aid, a captivating desk toy, or an engaging cooperative game, these dice promise an experience that transcends the typical dice-rolling affair.

Those already familiar with the original Knot Dice will be pleased to know that the new six-sided dice (D6) can either be used standalone or added to the original Knot Dice set. The new dice boast animal motifs on two faces, pips all around, and the same hefty weight and continuous line design that fans have come to love. Plus, these 20mm dice are larger than the typical 16mm size, adding to their allure.

Also introduced are new four-sided and eight-sided dice (D4 & D8), which interconnect on their triangular faces. In keeping with the aesthetic, the size of the eight-sided die is larger than usual to match the size of the four-sided dice faces.

Once the campaign ends, backers will have the chance to choose their preferred dice colors and animal designs on the six-sided dice through the pledge manager.

But the fun doesn’t stop with rolling the dice. The Kickstarter campaign promises a range of engaging games and puzzles designed specifically for the Celtic Animal Knot Dice. One highlight is the new version of the cooperative Knot Dice game, Kells, which requires at least 18 six-sided dice. The game challenges players to complete a design using rolled dice, achieving various goals, and even matching up the animal paths.

Asteroid Dice: A New Twist to Dice Games – On Kickstarter Now https://www.tabletopgamingnews.com/asteroid-dice-a-new-twist-to-dice-games-on-kickstarter-now/ https://www.tabletopgamingnews.com/asteroid-dice-a-new-twist-to-dice-games-on-kickstarter-now/#respond Thu, 25 May 2023 20:00:00 +0000 https://www.tabletopgamingnews.com/?p=11162 Camden Games has launched a Kickstarter campaign for their groundbreaking game, “Asteroid Dice.” The campaign has already far surpassed its initial goal of $9,625, with $25,097 pledged by 398 backers, and still 20 days to go before the campaign ends on June 15.

Asteroid Dice is not your average dice game. It involves throwing, bouncing, and colliding giant foam dice in a game that brings an innovative approach to the traditional dice gameplay. The giant foam dice are also a great addition to RPGs, DnD, and other giant gaming scenarios.

The game requires strategy, speed, and skill to come out victorious. Players grab their asteroid dice from the middle, preparing to face off against opponents in a frenetic snowball-fight style gameplay. Once the moon dust has settled, players roll and crash the dice together to increase their score while attempting to decrease their opponents’ score.

With 20 days still to go on the Kickstarter campaign, potential backers have ample time to get involved in this exciting new game venture.

The game, which takes players on a journey to protect the regions of Helm from Shadow Riders and their Orc hordes, has garnered attention for its unique gameplay and replayability.

In BERSERKERS, players take on the role of three warriors commissioned by King Hrolf Kraki to protect their homeland by lighting the protective fires of Odin and marking the Shadow Riders with a sacred seal. To achieve this, players must roll action dice and use action cards to move, loot, assist villagers, gamble, and perform other actions while navigating the AI-controlled Shadow Riders and their hordes.

What sets BERSERKERS apart is the inclusion of King’s Requests, which players must complete in order to win the game. The game also boasts 479 million set-up combinations for the 12 location cards, ensuring that players will never have the same game twice.

Rolling Dice & Taking Names Episode 288: Banish the Snakes, My Shelfie, Ierusalem – Anno Domini, Worldbreaker

Legend has it that Saint Patrick drove all the snakes out of Ireland, but this is actually a myth. There is no evidence that snakes ever existed in Ireland, as the country has been separated from the European mainland for thousands of years. Therefore, it is more likely that the legend of Saint Patrick and the snakes is a metaphorical tale that refers to the saint’s efforts to convert the Irish people from their pagan beliefs to Christianity. And that is what you and your fellow Saints are attempting in this new GMT cooperative game. It is a toughie, liking playing with six pandemic cards.

Today, the site of the Last Supper is believed to be the Cenacle, a room located on the upper floor of a building in Jerusalem’s Old City. The building is now a holy site for both Christians and Jews, and it is visited by thousands of pilgrims each year. But you can stay at home and visit the site in the new game from Devir called Ierusalem. Yes, it is with an I.

Arranging a bookshelf is a personal preference, and in My Shelfie, it is all that matters. That and meeting specific goals. In real life, a bookshelf arrangement can depend on many factors, such as the size of the bookshelf, the number of books you have, and the type of books you have. Which is kind of what is needed in this game as well. Imagine that.

If you’re looking for a new collectible card game (CCG) to try, there are several options available on the market but sometimes there are ones that will fly under the radar. Worldbreakers might be one of them. Quick to play, ability to customize decks, and very straightforward in actions you perform. There is the battling against one another, but it isn’t like you are trying to defeat the other player’s hero.

Dark Fantasy Card & Dice Game Hellbringer Launches on Kickstarter, Inspired by Diablo Games https://www.tabletopgamingnews.com/dark-fantasy-card-dice-game-hellbringer-launches-on-kickstarter-inspired-by-diablo-games/ https://www.tabletopgamingnews.com/dark-fantasy-card-dice-game-hellbringer-launches-on-kickstarter-inspired-by-diablo-games/#respond Fri, 03 Mar 2023 18:00:00 +0000 https://www.tabletopgamingnews.com/?p=7150 Hellbringer, a new card and dice game inspired by the popular Diablo games by Blizzard, has launched on Kickstarter. Developed by Les Éditions Smash, the game is a solo-coop dark fantasy roguelike where players venture into a dungeon to slay a mighty demon.

The game features a perception-based combat system where players need a perception equal or greater than that of their opponent to see and attack them. The game also incorporates an all or nothing system, where the sum of a target’s health points and armor points defines the total needed to eliminate it. The game also includes hero building, allowing players to progress and optimize their characters through items, enchantments, companions, attribute points, and skills. Players can permanently increase their character’s attributes by using the card of an eliminated enemy. The game also features ten scenarios, available in narrated text and audio, and a specially designed soundtrack to fully immerse players in its demonic universe.

The game can be played solo or in coop mode, and the game’s richness is felt when played in a group. Players can offer cards to each other, resurrect eliminated players, and create combos using certain cards to improve the damage of their teammates. However, the more players in the game, the greater the difficulty.

Hellbringer is available for backing on Kickstarter now, with pledges starting at CA$65 for the core game. The campaign has a funding goal of CA$26,500 and will run until March 21, 2023. With its unique gameplay mechanics and immersive universe, Hellbringer is set to be a hit with fans of dark fantasy, roguelike, and card and dice games.

A Wayfarer’s Tale Roll-and-Write Game Coming to Kickstarter Soon https://www.tabletopgamingnews.com/a-wayfarers-tale-roll-and-write-game-coming-to-kickstarter-soon/ https://www.tabletopgamingnews.com/a-wayfarers-tale-roll-and-write-game-coming-to-kickstarter-soon/#respond Fri, 12 Aug 2022 09:41:00 +0000 https://tabletopgamingnewscom.bigscoots-staging.com/?p=4486 Bright Light Games has been working on a roll-and-write game called A Wayfarer’s Tale that they look to bring to Kickstarter soon. What makes the game unique? It’s going to be a digital download print-and-play. Sick of all the costs of shipping going up? This will totally bypass all of that.

From the website:

A Wayfarers tale is a Roll ‘n’ Write, digital download that’s due to be launched on Kickstarter in a few weeks time.

A Wayfarer’s Tale is a 1-4 player race to explore uncharted islands, collecting Treasure and avoiding Monsters along the way to score the most points. Turns are taken simultaneously, and there are no rounds in this 30-45 minute Roll ‘n’ Write voyage of discovery.

Instead, players choose from a shared pool of dice each turn, adding 2 dice values together to enlist the services of an intrepid Explorer to help them traverse tricky terrain.

Play continues until a player visits every Town on the island, but true victory is measured in fame and wealth! Your final score in A Wayfarer’s Tale is based on how many Towns you visit, how much Treasure you discover, and how many Monsters you face.
