With ships forged from both bizarre technology and twisted flesh, the fleet is set to dominate and instill terror into the hearts of those who traverse these waters.

Martin Thirlwell, in his note to the gaming community, described the Abyssal Dwarf fleet as a terror that blankets the sea with a dense, choking black smoke from its towering funnels. The might of their cursed cannons, combined with their malevolent intentions, presents a grim challenge to seafarers.

As Mantic gears up for its campaign in September, this latest addition to Armada is now ready to set sail. The Abyssal Dwarf ships exemplify a fusion of peculiar technology and tortured flesh, all crafted to manifest their dominance over the seas of Pannithor.

What’s Available in the Abyssal Dwarf Fleet?

  1. Abyssal Dwarf Starter Fleet: Comprising the Angkor-Class Warship, Infernox-Class Warship, and the Katsuchan Bombard, this fleet originates from the blackened shipyards of the Abyssal Dwarfs in Tragar. The package also includes necessary cards and bases for the miniatures.
  2. Abyssal Dwarf Booster Fleet: This fleet brings forth a Decimator Support Ship, another Angkor-Class Warship, and two Blacksoul Frigates. Designed to provide increased tactical flexibility, these ships are both a testament to the Abyssal Dwarfs’ crafting skills and a dark force on the waves.
  3. Abyssal Dwarf Hellfane Battleship: The Abyssal Dwarfs’ answer to their Imperial cousins’ Dreadnoughts, this ship is a testament to their engineering prowess and dark intent. The kit contains the Hellfane-Class Battleship and parts to build ‘The Arbiter of Pain’ – a vessel known for its deadly ramming attacks.
  4. Abyssal Dwarf Fliers: Complementing the main fleet, the Abyssal Dwarfs’ air support consists of a Gargoyle Swarm and a Gun-Worm – both embodying the eerie fusion of flesh and technology.

Martin concludes by teasing even more details about the upcoming campaign and encouraging the community to share their choices of armies and fleets. As Mantic releases this new, dark force upon Pannithor’s seas, one can only wonder who or what will rise to confront the Abyssal Dwarf menace.

Seas Of Dread: Armada Introduces Ghosts and Pirates in New Supplement Book https://www.tabletopgamingnews.com/seas-of-dread-armada-introduces-ghosts-and-pirates-in-new-supplement-book/ https://www.tabletopgamingnews.com/seas-of-dread-armada-introduces-ghosts-and-pirates-in-new-supplement-book/#respond Thu, 27 Apr 2023 17:26:17 +0000 https://www.tabletopgamingnews.com/?p=9356 Armada players, get ready to set sail on the high seas for some ghostly and pirate-infested action! Mantic Games has just announced the release of their new supplement book, Seas Of Dread, which will be available for pre-order starting tomorrow.

This new supplement book promises to add plenty of exciting new features to the already popular game. Among the features are an FAQ & Errata section, the Trident Realm Background, Sea Monsters, Interactive Terrain, Multi-Player Games, New Game Modes, New Scenarios, and, most notably, Ghost Fleets and Pirate Fleets.

Ghost Fleets are cursed ships risen from the depths of the ocean by dark arts, continuing their duty in life. These ghost ships are no longer a rare sight and are often accompanied by entire flotillas of spectral sloops and brigs, wailing with the cries of the damned. The Ghost Fleets can be constructed in the same way as a normal fleet, using the ship’s profiles and upgrades detailed in the Seas Of Dread book. Players may use ship models from any other fleet in the Mantic range to represent their ghastly ghost vessels.

Pirate Fleets, on the other hand, are the most feared, merciless, scurvy seadogs ever to sail beneath a black flag. As with Ghost Fleets, players may use ship models from any other fleet to represent the pirate’s vessels. Pirates have unique upgrades and fleet special rules, such as the infamous Jolly Roger.

Both Ghost Fleets and Pirate Fleets have access to the generic standard and magical upgrades available to all fleets, as well as some uniquely designed upgrades for each new fleet, such as the “Fury Of The Damned,” which is a fearsome weapon to have on board.

The book will be available for pre-order starting tomorrow on the Mantic Webstore.

Mantic Games Releases New Armada Miniatures: Trident Realm Pre-Orders Now Available! https://www.tabletopgamingnews.com/mantic-games-releases-new-armada-miniatures-trident-realm-pre-orders-now-available/ https://www.tabletopgamingnews.com/mantic-games-releases-new-armada-miniatures-trident-realm-pre-orders-now-available/#respond Tue, 21 Feb 2023 22:25:02 +0000 https://www.tabletopgamingnews.com/?p=6220 Mantic Games has released their latest catch, the new Armada miniatures, and it’s a real catch of the day! The Trident Realm pre-orders are now open, offering gamers and collectors the chance to create their own incredible stories with the latest addition to the Armada miniatures range.

The Trident Realm starter fleet is the stalwart of the fleet, featuring giant squids, turtles with huge guns mounted on their shells, and chariots pulled by great knuckers. These armies have adapted to the intrusion of land-dwellers upon their waters and trained giant creatures of the ocean depths in the art of warfare. The starter set is perfect for those who want to dive right into the action and experience the thrill of naval combat.

The booster fleet includes a gun turtle, a Kyr-Angler fish, and two Wyrm-drawn sloops, making it the perfect addition to the starter fleet. Utilizing their natural gifts, the giant Kyr-Angler is able to blind opponents, while the ensnaring nets of the Wrym-drawn sloops cause havoc amongst the enemy’s crews.

The Trident Realm Tidal Terrors Booster draws smaller creatures to the fleets of the Trident Realm, fighting alongside their larger kin and supporting their attacks. This set includes a greater water elemental and a giant giga, along with MDF bases and ship cards.

The Trident Realm Leviathan is a rare and monstrous whale known as Leviathans and for good reason. They match the largest ships of the land-dwelling nations for size and bulk, as well as aggression. The set allows you to build two different variants, making it perfect for gamers and collectors alike.

All sets come with MDF bases and ship cards, providing everything you need to get started. Pre-orders for the Trident Realm miniatures will start shipping from March 20th, giving fans plenty of time to get their orders in and prepare for the next wave of Armada miniatures. So whether you’re a seasoned veteran or a new recruit to the Armada miniatures range, the Trident Realm pre-orders are not to be missed!

Mantic Previews Dwarven Fleet in Armada https://www.tabletopgamingnews.com/mantic-previews-dwarven-fleet-in-armada/ https://www.tabletopgamingnews.com/mantic-previews-dwarven-fleet-in-armada/#respond Fri, 02 Oct 2020 14:13:00 +0000 https://tabletopgamingnewscom.bigscoots-staging.com/?p=5122 You might usually expect to find dwarves deep in their mines underneath the great mountain ranges of the world. But while that’s a fairly natural habitat for them, they’re also capable of heading out to see in mighty warships. In this preview, we get a look at what their fleet looks like in Armada, Mantic’s upcoming naval combat game.

From the article:

In the last of our fleet focus blogs, we’re introducing the stoic dwarfs and their powerful ships of steam!

It is only due to lack of numbers that the dwarfs are not renowned as a sea power, for their ships, known as ironclads, are amongst the strongest in the world – wrought with the meticulous precision of the Warsmiths, powered by steam, and bristling with the most accurate cannon on the high seas.

Unusually, dwarf ships are not often commanded by sea-captains, but by Warsmiths who have spent their long lives dedicated to the study of naval engineering. Their officers are also novice Warsmiths, who train as apprentices, learning all there is to know about screw propulsion, steam power, cannon rifling, hull coppering, pressure management, and dozens of other disciplines vital to the efficient running of an ironclad. Maintenance of an ironclad is a full-time occupation, and a Warsmith will suffer not even a single cog out of alignment on his vessel, the entire ship running as a single well-oiled machine.

All dwarf vessels are armour-plated, smoke-belching paddle-steamers, and are treated with reverential pride by the crew. Every handle, wheel and valve is decorated with a Warsmith’s unique sigils; every rivet stamped with a seal of approval. Indeed, as Warsmiths continually seek to improve on designs, and even tinker with their own vessels throughout their service, it is rare for two dwarf ships to be identical.

Not so long ago, the only dwarf fleets worthy of the name belonged to Golloch’s empire, but in recent years the Free Dwarfs in exile have grown bolder, their territories more expansive. Already, their Warsmiths’ ironclads dominate the Low Sea of Carrog, and make forays into the Garric Gulf. But now, thanks to treaties with the Basileans, their vessels ply the Infant Sea at last, a situation that enrages Golloch and brings the dwarfs ever closer to internecine war.
