Privateer Press Unveils Brineblood Marauders Army for WARMACHINE: MKIV https://www.tabletopgamingnews.com/privateer-press-unveils-brineblood-marauders-army-for-warmachine-mkiv/ https://www.tabletopgamingnews.com/privateer-press-unveils-brineblood-marauders-army-for-warmachine-mkiv/#respond Wed, 05 Apr 2023 16:00:00 +0000 https://www.tabletopgamingnews.com/?p=8384 Tabletop miniatures game enthusiasts are in for a treat as Privateer Press announced the launch of a new army, the Brineblood Marauders, for its popular WARMACHINE: MKIV game. Slated for release in July 2023, the new addition will be available at game stores and the Privateer Press online store. Players can access stat card information for all the new models in the army for free through the WARMACHINE app from the Apple App Store and Google Play before its official release.

The Brineblood Marauders mark the first warlock-led army in WARMACHINE: MKIV, which combines the game’s parallel brand, HORDES, into a single rules set. Although HORDES is no longer maintained as a separate brand, the Iron Kingdoms still witness fierce battles between warbeasts and warlocks.

Hailing from a hidden fortress seaport, the Brineblood Marauders trollkin pirates wreak havoc along the coast of Immoren, seeking riches and revenge for past injustices inflicted on troll-kind. These merry marauders must face the terrifying forces threatening their annihilation as they navigate the precarious waters between the Iron Kingdoms.

The Brineblood Marauders Core Army Starter offers players everything they need for a 50-point game of WARMACHINE, including 22 unique models like warlock Captain Firequill, customizable warbeasts, Marauder Crew units, Pygmy Boarding Party, Galley Crew support unit, and a Surgeon. The set also comes with a separate, free Starter Magnet Pack for magnetizing the warbeasts’ arms and heads for easy customization.

The WARMACHINE app provides comprehensive MKIV rules, a new-player training guide, stat card information for all models available for MKIV play, and list-sharing and match play features.

Players can look forward to other new armies like Orgoth Sea Raiders, Cygnar Storm Legion, Khador Winter Korps, and Dusk House Kallyss, with expansion releases continuing to support them. Official Organized Play support for the MKIV edition is already shipping via Journeyman Slow-Grow kits, with the Resurrection League and ongoing narrative campaign available through the WARMACHINE app coming later this spring.

Privateer Press Previews Defenses in MkIV https://www.tabletopgamingnews.com/privateer-press-previews-defenses-in-mkiv/ https://www.tabletopgamingnews.com/privateer-press-previews-defenses-in-mkiv/#respond Mon, 23 Jan 2023 10:32:00 +0000 https://tabletopgamingnewscom.bigscoots-staging.com/?p=5685 One of the new additions to Warmachine/Hordes in MkIV is Defenses. They’re new terrain pieces that players can add to the battlefield to help give them an advantage against their opponents. We get a look at how they work in this article.

From the article:

We will be adding an exciting new element to WARMACHINE MKIV in coming months: Defenses. Defenses are a new type of terrain feature that players take turns placing on the table after all standard terrain and terrain mandated by the scenario being used have been placed. Each player will have the option to place up to three Defenses for the first player and up to four for the second player. A player places their Defenses on their side of the table.

Our initial offering of Scenario Defenses includes Fire Pits, Powder Kegs, Wall Barriers, and Spike Traps. Fire Pits represent burning hazards on the tabletop that remove Stealth from models in their close proximity; Powder Kegs are explosive obstacles that must be tread around carefully; Wall Barriers are obstacles designed to slow extra-large and smaller based models; and a Spike Trap is an obstacle that damages enemy models moving in its close proximity. All obstacles are removed from the table if they are contacted by an extra-large or huge-based model.

Defenses will be added to the game once they are released in the next few months.

Here are the full rules for Defenses:

Mechanik and Bison Previewed for Khador Winter Korps https://www.tabletopgamingnews.com/mechanik-and-bison-previewed-for-khador-winter-korps/ https://www.tabletopgamingnews.com/mechanik-and-bison-previewed-for-khador-winter-korps/#respond Mon, 14 Nov 2022 14:32:00 +0000 https://tabletopgamingnewscom.bigscoots-staging.com/?p=4111 No, the Bison isn’t an actual buffalo out on the battlefield, as cool as that would be. It’s a large tank. And, to keep it running, there’s the Battle Mechanik. Get a look at both of these new figures coming for Warmachine in this preview.

Armed with only a pouch of tools, a powerful rivet gun, and a torch, the Battle Mechaniks trail behind Khador’s lumbering warjacks into battle. Operating alone or in small groups, it falls upon these intrepid engineers to keep the Motherland’s machines and Man-O-War in fighting condition even in the midst of combat. To protect these skilled soldiers, each is issued a suit of heavy Shock Trooper armor and a book of prayers.

Another marvel of modern Khadoran engineering, the Bison is a rugged railless combat vehicle. Powered by a fearsome steam engine, the tracked machine can tear across any terrain. Though slower than most heavy cavalry, the Bison offers its operators unparalleled protection and the Winter Korps tremendous tactical flexibility. The AC-2 Bison is armed with a pair of powerful auto cannons. Even the Bison’s sheer size and weight, however, can function as a weapon on the battlefield. Any foe unwilling to move aside can simply be plowed over.

Privateer Press Previews Man-O-War Suppressors for Warmachine https://www.tabletopgamingnews.com/privateer-press-previews-man-o-war-suppressors-for-warmachine/ https://www.tabletopgamingnews.com/privateer-press-previews-man-o-war-suppressors-for-warmachine/#respond Thu, 27 Oct 2022 15:12:00 +0000 https://tabletopgamingnewscom.bigscoots-staging.com/?p=5395 The Winter Guard aren’t the only part of the Khador army getting new miniatures with Warmachine MkIV. The Man-O-War corps are getting some new figures as well, including these new Suppressors.

From the preview:

The skilled engineers of the Khadoran Mechaniks Assembly have tirelessly sought for generations to continuously refine the Man-O-War armor that is undoubtedly one of their finest accomplishments. Over time, the great suits of steam-powered armor that grant a lone operator the strength and resilience of a dozen soldiers have become safer, simpler, and more efficient. The newest generation of this technology exemplifies the citizen-hero philosophy of the Winter Korps, providing a weapon platform simple enough for any soldier to operate and yet amongst the most powerful yet devised. The Man-O-War Suppressor armor features a pair of rapid fire Hailstorm Cannons capable of unleashing withering fire on any enemy while providing unrivaled protection to its operator.

Privateer Press Explains Legacy Armies in Prime Arena for Warmachine https://www.tabletopgamingnews.com/privateer-press-explains-legacy-armies-in-prime-arena-for-warmachine/ https://www.tabletopgamingnews.com/privateer-press-explains-legacy-armies-in-prime-arena-for-warmachine/#respond Mon, 22 Aug 2022 18:30:00 +0000 https://tabletopgamingnewscom.bigscoots-staging.com/?p=4226 The new edition of Warmachine and Hordes brought a whole ton of changes to the game. That includes how armies are constructed. So, what about everyone that’s been playing the game for nigh-on 20 years at this point? Well, we get a look a bit about how that’ll work in Prime Arena in this article.

From the article:

There has been a degree of anticipation, speculation, and suspense since we first announced that some Mk III Legacy armies would make their way into the MKIV Prime Arena. To spare our players the consternation and suspense of waiting, we have decided to reveal Faction armies that will be grandfathered into Prime.

While each of the larger Factions will get two Prime armies, there are some smaller, more recent armies that will be added to Prime virtually in their entirety. These include the Convergence, Crucible Guard, Grymkin, and Infernals.

The larger Faction armies are based on the primary themes running through each Faction but are not based on the Mk III theme forces. These Factions include Circle, Cryx, Cygnar, Khador, Legion, Protectorate, Retribution, Skorne, and Trollbloods. These larger Factions also share small cadres of models and units that are shared between their armies.

A number of Mercenary armies were also included in the Prime Arena. These include Minion armies, which have been classified as Mercs in MKIV.

Privateer Press Previews Two New Orgoth Units for Warmachine https://www.tabletopgamingnews.com/privateer-press-previews-two-new-orgoth-units-for-warmachine/ https://www.tabletopgamingnews.com/privateer-press-previews-two-new-orgoth-units-for-warmachine/#respond Fri, 29 Apr 2022 15:14:00 +0000 https://tabletopgamingnewscom.bigscoots-staging.com/?p=5403 The Orgoth have even more stuff headed to the tabletop soon in Warmachine. In this preview, we check out two more units. They’re the Strike Reavers and the Rhok Harriers.

The strike reavers represent the massed infantry of the Orgoth host. The most disciplined of all the reavers, they stride into battle armed with powerful Blaze core-powered bolt throwers and stout barbed shields. Locked together in tight formations, strike reavers unleash volleys of lethal fire from behind their fortified walls of shields.

Unleashed to hound those who would be prey for the Orgoth host, the rhoks are vicious scavengers that live high the settled territories and along the jagged coasts of their storm-wracked home territories. The rhoks are captured, broken, and trained for war at great risk to the lives of those who train them. They soar through the air alongside the great black ships, nesting in their masts when tired. With a vast range of miles to fly, the rhoks are a constant, reliable indicator of nearby lands and prey at sea, signaling (or warning) the vessels they accompany.

Privateer Press Previews New Orgoth for Warmachine https://www.tabletopgamingnews.com/privateer-press-previews-new-orgoth-for-warmachine/ https://www.tabletopgamingnews.com/privateer-press-previews-new-orgoth-for-warmachine/#respond Wed, 27 Apr 2022 15:12:00 +0000 https://tabletopgamingnewscom.bigscoots-staging.com/?p=5399 Another preview of some Orgoth figures coming to Warmachine soon. This time around, it’s the Vulcar Forge Master solo and the Ulkor Barragers unit.

The Vulcar are skilled mechanists and animistic shamans entrusted with the fell secrets of the Orgoth Infernus technology. They know the inner workings and dark bindings required to enslave the spirits that empower the Orgoth’s cruel variant of the mechanikal cortexes that lie at the heart of their own malefic machines. And it is the forge masters who oversee their rituals and grim construction, who shepherd the warjacks into battle and keep them in working condition, ever ready for tireless slaughter.

The barragers are a specially trained corps of Ulkors who are armed with powerful, short-ranged cannons. Like their warjacks, Orgoth firearms are powered by Infernus tech Blaze cores, a magical power source fueled by energies rendered from sacrificed souls, a dark adaptation gleaned from their malignant contact with the Fellgoeth infernals. The barragers constitute a mobile artillery force, following the Orgoth host into battle.
