Scarlet & Violet—Temporal Forces marks the return of ACE SPEC cards, originally featured in the Black & White Series, to the Pokémon TCG. These cards, known for their powerful effects, are limited to one per deck and have received a design update with a new magenta hue for this expansion. The ACE SPEC cards can be Trainer or Special Energy cards, adding a strategic element to deck composition.

Revival of Shiny Pokémon in the Latest Expansion

Scarlet & Violet—Paldean Fates, inspired by popular expansions such as Hidden Fates and Shining Fates, reintroduces Shiny Pokémon to the Pokémon TCG. This expansion includes a collection of over 130 Shiny Pokémon from the Paldea region, including fan favorites like Shiny Pikachu and Shiny Ceruledge. The expansion also introduces Shiny Tera Pokémon ex, featuring notable characters such as Charizard ex and Forretress ex, alongside Ancient and Future Pokémon ex.

Enhanced Artistry and Rarity

A highlight of this expansion is the introduction of full-art styles for select Shiny Pokémon, offering a fresh visual take on these characters. Additionally, some Pokémon ex will appear on hyper rare cards with a new raised foil effect, adding to the collectability and aesthetic appeal of the cards.

Digital Experience

The Pokémon Company, in partnership with Creatures Inc. and design firm nendo, has pulled back the curtain on the eagerly anticipated “Pokémon Trading Card Game Classic.” Announced initially on Pokémon Day 2023, this deluxe edition is set to be a game-changer for Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) enthusiasts when it hits store shelves on November 17, 2023.

A Fusion of Classic and Contemporary

The Pokémon TCG Classic offers an elevated gameplay experience, blending reimagined designs with iconic cards from the game’s history. Among the standouts are recreated Base Set versions of Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise, each featured in one of the three preconstructed decks that come with the set. These 60-card foil decks also showcase Kanto’s first partner Pokémon—Bulbasaur, Charmander, or Squirtle.

Besides these classics, the set also includes brand-new cards featuring Lugia ex, Ho-Oh ex, Suicune ex, Sun Seed, Scorching Charcoal, and Drops in the Ocean. Notably, a Mr. Mime card, previously exclusive to Japan, will also make its international debut in this collection.

Premium Components for an Enhanced Experience

The Pokémon TCG Classic aims to take the playing experience to the next level with a range of high-quality, carefully designed gameplay accessories:

The Scarlet & Violet—151 expansion is the first of its kind in the Pokémon TCG universe. It will feature all original 151 Pokémon from the Kanto region, reimagined in the context of the Scarlet & Violet Series’ Paldea. The set includes a variety of illustration rare and special illustration rare alternate art cards and is organized in Pokédex order, offering Trainers a unique opportunity to revisit some of the brand’s most iconic Pokémon.

The Scarlet & Violet—151 expansion contains several noteworthy cards including 12 Pokémon ex, 16 illustration rare and seven special illustration rare Pokémon and Supporter cards, 16 ultra-rare full-art etched Pokémon and Supporter cards, and three hyper rare gold etched cards.

The cards from this expansion will be available in multiple products, including the Scarlet & Violet—151 Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box, Elite Trainer Box, Poster Collection, Binder Collection, Booster Bundle, Ultra-Premium Collection, ex Box—Alakazam ex, ex Box—Zapdos ex, and the Mini Tin Collection.

The Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box, available for preorder now in the U.S., Canada, and the U.K., includes 11 booster packs, two copies of a Snorlax illustration rare-style promo card, and various gameplay accessories.

Ahead of the physical release, Trainers can play with Scarlet & Violet—151 digitally on the Pokémon TCG Live app, available for iOS, Android, macOS, and Windows devices, from September 21, 2023. The expansion will be available in the in-game shop, where players can redeem Crystals earned from completing daily quests for various Scarlet & Violet—151 products.

Following the game’s exit from its global beta phase, Pokémon TCG Live allows players to face off against competitors from around the world. In addition to the game’s release, the latest expansion pack, Scarlet & Violet—Paldea Evolved, offers players a fresh realm of play. This expansion introduces an array of intriguing cards to the mix, further enhancing the gameplay experience for fans.

To add to the excitement, a brand-new Battle Pass has been unveiled alongside the launch. This feature includes the formidable Chien-Pao ex and Forretress ex. The basic Battle Pass grants players access to a deck featuring Chien-Pao ex, while the Premium Pass offers a deck centered around Forretress ex.

To build up their Pokémon TCG Live collection, players can level up their Battle Pass, earn additional cards to upgrade their decks, and achieve daily quests. The implementation of these new features encourages active gameplay and fosters a vibrant online community.

One of the cards that is getting a lot of attention is Tinkatuff, illustrated by Tika Matsuno. The artwork shows Tinkatuff pounding away at a sheet of metal deep within a cave, with resources such as a metal pipe and girder scattered around. The Tinkatuff card comes with a progression of illustrations that show the Pokémon forging its next hammer, from Tinkatink to the Tinkaton ex card.

Another exciting card is Baxcalibur, illustrated by Tomokazu Komiya. The artwork shows Baxcalibur using its signature move, Glaive Rush, to cut down a tree in its snowy mountain habitat. The card comes with a powerful ability called Super Cold that allows you to attach a Basic Water Energy card from your hand to one of your Pokémon as often as you like during your turn.

Chi-Yu ex is another card making its Pokémon TCG debut as a powerful Pokémon ex. The card bursts through the frame, with dark flames engulfing the artwork and borders. For one Fire Energy, the card allows you to burn your opponent’s resources and discard the top 2 cards of their deck with the Jealously Singe attack. Alternatively, you can use the Flame Surge attack for two Fire Energy to do 100 damage to the opposing Pokémon and then attach a Fire Energy from your deck to 3 of your Benched Pokémon.

Reversal Energy is a special energy card that allows you to turn the tables on your opponent. If you have more Prize cards remaining than your opponent and Reversal Energy is attached to an Evolution Pokémon without a Rule Box, the card provides 3 of every type of Energy at a time. This card is expected to be particularly powerful in the Gym Leader Challenge alternative play format.

Finally, Giacomo is a skilled Trainer and the boss of Team Star’s Dark crew, as well as a DJ with a passion for music. The artwork by KIYOTAKA OSHIYAMA shows Giacomo reviewing his notes while munching on a hot dog, with an elevated perspective from the rafters. The card allows you to discard a Special Energy from each of your opponent’s Pokémon, making it the perfect choice for a disruptive Dark-type Trainer.
