“Last Hope of Fenhill” Expands Dungeons & Dragons with New Folk Horror Adventure
The DMs Guild has released a new Dungeons & Dragons adventure, “Last Hope of Fenhill,” available from today. This module, designed for characters of levels 3 to 6, is authored by Marieke Cross, known for her previous works like “Chains of Asmodeus” and “Achtung Cthulhu!” The adventure’s visual elements, including maps and graphic design, are crafted by Michal E. Cross.
Set in the troubled Duchy of Galarnay, the story begins with the players attending a wedding, which quickly transitions from a joyful celebration to a suspenseful and mysterious ordeal. The players discover unsettling truths about the area and its inhabitants, revealing a backdrop filled with bitterness and mistrust.
“Last Hope of Fenhill” slowly builds tension, drawing players deeper into its intricately designed world. It features 14 maps and over 100 NPCs that help bring the setting to life, suitable for both current gameplay and future campaigns within the same universe. Additionally, the module introduces new magical items, creatures, and various handouts that aid in deepening the immersive experience.
This adventure addresses mature themes such as mind control, danger to innocents, and various forms of horror, which are highlighted in the content warnings provided by the creators. These elements are integral to the folk horror atmosphere that the module aims to convey.
The book is currently available in PDF format, with potential future availability in print depending on consumer interest.
