NorthStar Game Studio Announces New Partnership with ICE Makes and the Upcoming Release of Two New Games
Independent board game publisher, NorthStar Game Studio, acclaimed for titles like Evolution, Oceans, and Paint the Roses, has announced a partnership with Hong Kong-based ICE Makes. This collaboration aims to broaden the audience of intuitively designed, beautifully illustrated board games.
“We’ve partnered with ICE Makes because they have the same design aesthetic. They are creating worlds we want to explore. I can’t wait to introduce these games to a wider audience,” shared Dominic Crapuchettes, Founder of NorthStar Game Studio.
The collaboration brings two new games to the forefront: “Eila and Something Shiny” and “Inheritors.”
“Eila and Something Shiny” is a story-rich game set in a mystical world. Players assume the role of Eila, navigating through underground mazes and snowy highlands, solving puzzles, and managing resources. The game unfolds an immersive story across five chapters with stunning artwork and a branching storyline where the players’ decisions dictate the ending. Following a successful Kickstarter campaign, the game has garnered numerous reviews on BoardGameGeek, earning an impressive average rating of 8.1.
“We were blown away by Eila and Something Shiny. It combines simple but strategic gameplay with an emotional story we couldn’t stop talking about. We immediately knew this was a game we wanted to share with our fans,” added Crapuchettes.
“Inheritors” provides a full-fledged gaming experience in a compact card game format. Following the death of the king, players, as heirs, strive to gain influence among five clans, spy on rivals, and tilt the courts’ balance in their favor in this tight contest for the throne.
“Creating a small, elegant, and highly replayable game is a tricky artform. Inheritors packs real strategic depth into a box small enough to take anywhere,” said Crapuchettes on the innovative game design.
Both “Eila and Something Shiny” and “Inheritors” will hit retail shelves in August and will be available for demo during GenCon 2023 at the NorthStar Booth
