Enemies & Lovers Card Game Based on Folk of the Air Surpasses Kickstarter Goal
The Kickstarter campaign for “Enemies & Lovers,” a card game based on Holly Black’s Folk of the Air series, has significantly surpassed its funding target, reaching $148,248 of the $60,000 goal. The campaign has attracted 1,815 backers with 29 days remaining until its conclusion on May 31.
Developed by Holly Black, an author known for her extensive catalog of over 40 fantasy novels, “Enemies & Lovers” combines elements of strategy, deception, and betrayal. The game is designed for 2-4 players and offers a gameplay duration of between 15 and 40 minutes.
Players of “Enemies & Lovers” start with three cards each and aim to strategically assemble a court consisting of a Coercion Card, a Prince Card, and a Conspirator Card. The end goal is to manipulate these elements to claim the Crown Card and ascend to power within the game’s universe. The game encourages dynamic interaction among players through actions such as stealing, spying, and setting traps to thwart opponents.
The game is designed for easy learning and fast-paced play, and it does not require prior knowledge of Black’s Folk of the Air series. Holly Black highlights the game’s appeal to those who enjoy strategic and competitive gameplay.
“Enemies & Lovers” features 45 tarot-sized cards printed on 356 GSM black core cardstock with a linen finish and UV coating for durability. The cards are illustrated by Frostbite Studios and include detailed artwork with full-color designs. The game offers standard and deluxe editions, the latter featuring metallic green or gold sprayed edges.
