“The Sixth Realm” Surpasses Kickstarter Goal, Reviving Ancient Legends in Board Game Form
“The Sixth Realm,” a strategic Euro board game by Final Frontier Games, has rapidly exceeded its Kickstarter funding goal, reaching $96,115 pledged against an initial target of $40,000. With 961 backers already showing their support and 20 days still remaining before the campaign ends on May 15, the game is gaining significant attention.
Set in a mythical world, “The Sixth Realm” immerses players in the story of six ancient races whose harmonious coexistence was shattered by a cursed fog, causing them to forget their shared past. As the fog lifts in the modern era, players, assuming the role of explorers under royal commission, sail to rediscover their ancestral lands.
The gameplay unfolds over three rounds, where strategic decisions are influenced by the Stone Council’s determinations on guild activities. Each guild has a unique role in rebuilding the old continent, from constructing settlements and managing resources to exploring ruins and charting forgotten territories. The guilds also engage in recording history and translating ancient texts, crucial for unraveling the game’s backstory.
Players strive to gain the Queen’s Favor by accomplishing royal challenges, which are integral to rising in prominence within the game. “The Sixth Realm” requires players to carefully balance their strategies, making tactical decisions that not only counteract opponents’ moves but also plan for future turns.
